Sometimes closeness arises exactly where we give it room to move away.
We danced this demo after the Eros Tango Logos weekend in Kreuztal in 2024. The theme of the weekend: closeness and distance. And a voice I especially love — the follower’s, which you can see here in the dance, clear and self-assured.
I’m fascinated by what happens when resistance enters the conversation. When an impulse doesn’t give way at once, but answers. When the distance between us grows — and precisely because of that, our communicative closeness becomes much stronger. Then the closeness that returns afterwards is denser. And the distance itself becomes a form of connection.
Both create the same thing: more contact. More listening. More play.
Everything becomes more intense and, at the same time, lighter. Because whoever meets in this way has nothing to hold on to. Each of us is free to surrender completely to the music — and the other carries that freedom with us.
